The First 72 Hours

You don’t have to decide everything today. Here’s what usually needs attention now — and what can gently wait.

Right now

  • There is no rush for most decisions. You can take time.
  • Ask to spend as much time with your baby as you want.
  • You can name your baby, take photos, and create keepsakes — now or later.

In the first day

  • Ask the hospital about memory boxes, handprints, and footprints.
  • You can choose whether to see a social worker or chaplain — it's okay to decline.
  • Questions about autopsy or testing can wait until you feel ready.

Before you go home

  • Ask about funeral homes, cremation, or burial options and any costs.
  • Request copies of medical records and any certificates available.
  • Ask who to call when the next question comes — and write it down.

The days after

  • Your body will still recover from birth — rest, fluids, and follow-up care matter.
  • Bleeding, milk coming in, and hormonal shifts are normal. Ask what to expect.
  • Grief comes in waves. Whatever you're feeling is allowed.

Scripted preview — content and features are still being developed with families and healthcare partners.

What the full app will add

  • A doula companion that truly converses, day or night
  • A living Care Circle your loved ones can join and act on
  • Resources matched to your loss, your timing, and your location
  • Gentle follow-up through the weeks after you go home
